Nokia attempts viral marketing and sinks

Can a viral ad be more obvious?

Arguments:

  • It’s way too ambitious and professional to be an amateur effort.
  • The making-of video is posted by the user “nokia”. Oops!
  • Aardman is a company that makes commercial videos.
  • The choice of a phone instead of a still or video camera.

Not meaning to bash Nokia especially (they have enough troubles already), but rather the phenomenon of way too obvious viral marketing videos.

Considering the amount of views, people don’t seem to understand or care this is an ad.
