Chinese workers are already very inexpensive and working under standards that would be unacceptable in Europe or USA (even for most imported workers), so this will be interesting to follow.
Foxconn of course already uses robots to a large extent. Electronic components simply can’t be made manually, nor soldering them onto circuit boards, so this is more like pushing the limit and making a statement.
It goes without saying that brands gain from this very low production cost. Consumers gain less from it, not the least when it comes to Apple products, as they are very over-priced.
