Survey says people read local news via apps, few pay though
I’m in this category, not subscribing to any printed magazines and not accepting free ones in my mailbox, and instead reading all news via free Web magazines.
All important magazines have a Web site or mobile app, which is way more convenient than a paper magazine, so there’s no point having a printed magazine anymore, and more and more relevant information is now on blogs and topic-specific sites anyway.
This will over time decrease overall revenue for magazines, and force some to close down, unless they can find a way to charge for issues through mobile phones and tablets. Considering most don’t charge for them now, it will be hard to make that change later.
